International School of information Management (ISiM) has organised a Special Lecture (20) on “From Print to AR – Smart Media of the Future” by Dr.Arved Carl Hübler, Chair of the Professorship, Institute for Print and Media Technology, Chemnitz University of Technology for German Government agency DFG on 8th March, 2012 at 10:00 am @ International School of information Management (ISiM), Manasagangotri, Mysore.
Talk Abstract:
Dr. Arved Hübler will be talking about the future of media and offer a short systematic view on different media technologies. He will present some examples of developments at his institute and will address printed electronics, document technologies and OCR. Additionally, he will also present background of Institute for Print and Media Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology and their activities in India.
Speaker Bio:
Born in 1960, Dr. Arved Hübler studied Physics in Heidelberg and Berlin. His PhD in the field of image science was honoured with several awards. Dr. Hübler has worked several years at Bertelsmann AG, Germany, one of the world’s largest media companies. At Bertelsmann, he rose to Senior Manager for Technology. In 1997, he was appointed to a professorship at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany. He is presently the director of the Institute for Print and Media Technology [pmTUC] at the University with about 50 employees. The pmTUC is one of the world’s leading institutes for research and education in advanced printing and media technologies. His group has presented the first mass-printed electronic circuitry and the first mass-printed solar cell on paper. Currently, pmTUC has a dual-degree Masters program in conjunction with Manipal University, India. A representative office of pmTUC is based in Mumbai.
Dr. Arved Hübler is a member of many national and international scientific organizations. He has over 100 publications, holds several patents and served as chair for numerous international conferences. He was a founding board member of the OEA, the international Organic Electronics Association. Furthermore, he is engaged in several start-up companies focused on printed electronics.
