ISiM Entrepreneurship Dialogue (2) Friday, 15th of October, 2010, ISiM, Mysore
October 15, 2010
India, an emerging economy, has witnessed unprecedented levels of economic expansion, along with countries like China, Russia, Mexico and Brazil. However, to sustain the momentum & for India to emerge as a superpower, major infrastructural changes, along with socialistic programs that address issues such as poverty and unemployment, need to be implemented. There has been a growing concern for sustained economic development and has strengthened interest in entrepreneurship education with primary focus on exploring practical measures to augment the supply of entrepreneurs. This belief in the academia has encouraged education and training to inculcate and develop entrepreneurial capabilities in people so that they could set up their own enterprises.
What makes entrepreneurship education distinctive is its focus on realization of opportunity. Given entrepreneurship’s potential to support economic growth, it has been ISiM’s endeavor to develop a culture of entrepreneurial thinking and indoctrinate students to innovate, develop finance and business acumen in an effort to transform ideas into economic goods. ISiM’s curricula include a course on “Entrepreneurship” and to make entrepreneurship education more pragmatic.
